When the engine is being serviced, the piston connecting rod group is installed in the cylinder. Under normal circumstances, due to the angle between the piston and the centerline of the connecting rod, the piston leans against the left and right sides of the cylinder wall, and moves linearly along both sides of the cylinder parallel to the centerline of the cylinder. When the shape and position tolerance of the relevant parts in the piston connecting rod group do not meet the technical requirements, it will cause the piston to move in the cylinder, not to the left and right sides of the cylinder, but to the front and rear sides of the cylinder. This phenomenon is called piston tilting toward the cylinder, also known as tilting toward the cylinder.

Eccentric piston cylinder is one of the common failures of the engine, which will lead to increased wear of the cylinder wall, poor cylinder sealing, reduced power and increased fuel consumption. Early wear of pistons, piston rings and cylinders affects their service life. In severe cases, a cylinder pulling accident may occur, making the engine unable to run normally.

The main reasons for the misalignment of the piston cylinder are as follows: The positioning of the cylinder is not accurate when boring, which causes the misalignment error between the centerline of the cylinder and the centerline of the crankshaft main journal to exceed the limit.
